Panic attacks are overwhelming and frightening. At Possibilities, we can help you manage them
Panic attacks are extremely scary experiences during which you might believe you’re going to die, faint, have a heart attack or go crazy. This can lead to intense anxiety and fear about experiencing further panic attacks.
With our ‘enhanced’ Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) for panic attacks counselling, we help you understand what is happening and show you how to manage the panic, anxiety and any associated trauma. The therapy we offer is ‘enhanced’ with the latest developments in panic research and therapy methods.
What are panic attacks?
Panic attacks are often very frightening and traumatic. You experience terrifying physical symptoms: heart palpitations, shortness of breath, light-headedness, perspiration, blurred vision and feeling detached from reality and you don’t want to experience them again. You remain on red-alert, and very anxious with an intense fear and dread about the panic recurring. You try to keep safe by avoiding possible triggering situations. Sometimes the panic attack seems to happen ‘out of the blue’.
Should I seek panic attack treatment?
We can help you alleviate the suffering, trauma and anxiety related to panic. Our approach includes a number of effective methods for helping you manage panic and anxiety combined with individualised, flexible and personalised methods fashioned to help with your recovery.
How might panic attack counselling help?
At Possibilities Specialist Anxiety Clinic for Aberdeen and Aberdeenshire, Panic attack therapy includes our ‘enhanced’ cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT) approach tailored to meet your needs.
Our counsellors fully appreciate the challenge of panic attacks, so we’ll always work with you in a friendly, collaborative and encouraging manner. At no stage will we ever force you to do something you’re not ready to do.
Next Steps
Allow us to reassure you that professional help is at hand. We offer services that aim to reduce the fear and uncertainty about getting help. Arrange an initial consultation ‘taster’ session to discuss your needs, in privacy and comfort, to obtain a sense of how we help and for if this is the right direction for you.
And the day came when the risk (it took) to remain tight in the bud was more painful than the risk it took to blossom.

What our previous clients have said
I experienced severe trauma and developed a Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder which meant I wasn’t coping well with day to day life. With CBT Therapy at Possibilities, I’ve made a number of positive changes. It was a struggle at times but my psychotherapist helped me feel safe and capable as we worked through things. I’m now back at work and my confidence is growing. I have a life again. I’m so glad I took that scary first step and called. If you’re feeling unsure, I highly recommend you call them too.

I thought my life wasn’t worth living. My depression convinced me I was worthless and useless and my situation was hopeless. If you’re feeling something similar, go to Possibilities. They made an enormous difference to my life and they can do the same for you.

My relationship with my partner has vastly improved. We’re more able to communicate and we’re spending more time together and having fun! I can’t believe we were on the verge of separating when we contacted Possibilities as a last resort. I can’t thank them enough.
– SMcM, Aberdeenshire: Couples Counselling Aberdeen.
Possibilities was outstanding. I’ve overcome my anxiety and have the tools to keep it at bay should I need them in the future.
